Hambledon Cricket Club provides cricket coaching for children aged between 6 – 15 years. We also give children the opportunity to represent the club in competitive cricket matches in the South East Hants Cricket League. All coaching is undertaken by qualified coaches who have been CRB checked to ensure their suitability for working with young people.
The club has been based at Ridge Meadow, on the downs above Hambledon Village for many years. This is our main home, but from this year on, we also have the use of Judge's Meadow, another lovely cricket ground near the Sustainability Centre outside East Meon. We look forward to having some colts matches there this summer, so we are not putting too much strain on the wickets at Ridge Meadow.
The club has achieved ECB Clubmark accreditation. ECB Clubmark is the ECB’s club accreditation scheme for cricket clubs with junior sections. Clubs are required to meet minimum standards across four key areas; Duty of Care and Safeguarding Children; the Cricket Programme the club offers; knowing your club and its Community – One Game and Club Management. Achieving ECB Clubmark accreditation is an acknowledgement that we take these issues seriously and that we are striving to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for young participants in cricket. We also value the support of parents both at training and during matches and are also keen to involve parents in the running of the club.

Arrangements should be made for your child to travel to and from training sessions and matches. We expect children to arrive promptly and be collected at the end of the session in good time. We expect players to arrive 30 minutes prior to a match so they can help put out stumps and boundary markers, and warm up before the game.
In an emergency, please contact the Team Manager concerned. In the event of poor weather conditions, the Team Manager will attempt to contact players in advance if a match or training session has to be cancelled. Therefore, please ensure that your Manager has your up to date contact details, including a mobile telephone number.

All colts should wear appropriate cricket clothing (whites or the new blue playing kit) both for training and in matches. Hambledon Cricket Club clothing is available from the clubhouse, the contacts below or online. Whilst it is not essential to purchase these items, Colts playing in competitive matches generally appear more professional if all members of the team wear the HCC shirt. If you would like to order any items of Kit, please contact:
We are actively seeking Sponsors for several age groups so please contact us if you would be interested in sponsoring a team this season. Sponsorship offers a great opportunity for promoting your business in the local community.

These additional funds help secure the Club’s future development and will enable us to improve both the facilities at Ridge Meadow and the opportunities available to our Colts. We also encourage the whole family to participate in the various social events that will be organised during the 2018 Season. Whilst this charge is optional, we hope that you will see this as a beneficial way to support the Club and develop youth cricket at Hambledon.
Match Teas - It is traditional for Hambledon to provide teas for both teams after all home games. We do this by asking parents to contribute savoury and sweet snacks. Team Managers will nominate parents on a rotation basis to bring something along, once the team has been confirmed.
Bar - We also rely on volunteers to run the bar during matches giving supporters and players the opportunity to buy drinks and snacks. This year, Team Managers will also nominate parents to take on responsibility for the bar during home games.
We welcome support from parents in the successful running of the club. Therefore, if you are able to offer support in any way, please let us know. We are always looking for volunteers to help with training, managing teams, scoring, organizing Social events, BBQs, etc.
One area the club would really appreciate some more assistance this year is with the work of our hard working ground staff. We have a most lovely cricket ground at Ridge Meadow, and we use it for a lot for matches, from the under 7s to the First Team. The right preparation is needed for all these matches, and we are on the lookout for some extra assistance to help our Groundsman, Ralph Simmonds and his team. If you, or any of your wider extended families would be able to offer a few hours a week to help with the work, please contact Ralph Simmonds on 07766 415855.
We are sure there may be some mums and dads, uncles and aunts, grandparents and family friends who enjoy cricket and would be happy to spend a few hours in such lovely surroundings on the downs above Hambledon to keep the cricket ground in top condition for matches and practice sessions. This isn’t a huge commitment, but a little help from those interested would make a huge difference to the whole club, colts and adults alike. Please do let us know if you know someone amongst your family and friends who would be interested, more details are on the poster included with the membership details.
