The Hambledon Cricket Club Fantasy League is back for 2017!

After the success of last year’s competition, Kevin Wingham will be defending his title and the trophy in this year’s Fantasy League.

As last year, the entry fee is £5, only Saturday league games are counted, but you now get four free transfers over the duration of the season. However, the point scoring system is all new for 2017, and is as follows:

  • 1 point for every run up to 50
  • 1.5 points for each run between 50 and 100 (decimals rounded up)
  • 2 points for each run over 100
  • -5 points for a duck
  • 20 points per wicket taken
  • 5 points for each maiden bowled
  • 15 / 10 / 5 points for economy rate under 2 / 3 / 4 (5 overs min.)
  • -5 points for economy rate over 6 (5 overs min.)
  • 15 points for each catch, run-out or stumping
  • 5 points for being on the winning team

It sounds complicated, but after running it like this for a couple of years at my old club, we found it to balance out good batting and bowling performance, while making every run count.

As with last year there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of £75, £50 and £25 respectively*.

Values are based on league performances from last season and availability. Teams consist of 4 batsmen, 2 all-rounders, 1 wicket-keeper, 4 bowlers (maximum value 29).

Teams need to be in by midnight on Friday 5th May to be eligible for the first fixture. Contact Seb to register your team; payment can be made at training on Wednesday or at the weekend. Please send your teams in as soon as possible, as you can see from the player roster below there are plenty of bargains available!

Please get all family and friends involved too, and good luck!

* Prize money is based on at least 30 entries to the competition. If there are fewer entries, the prizes will be reduced accordingly.
