Online Kit Shop open until 7 January

Posted by Seb Duggan on

The ordering window for the Hambledon Cricket Club online kit shop (provided by Kukri) is now open.

There is currently a 20% discount for all members, the the shop will close on 7 January 2018.

Orders placed should be delivered by the start of the season. I can recommend the Hambledon beanie hat as a good choice for the early season...

If you have any queries, please contact Kevin Wingham, the kit coordinator.

Former Dons President Tony Baker

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Tony Baker at the age of 77.

In addition to his performances on the field and his huge contributions to Hampshire cricket over the years, Tony was a source of wise counsel and support as Club President of Hambledon during the late 1980s.

The Southern Daily Echo has more details of his life and accomplishments.

Ridge Meadow work party: Sunday 24 September

Posted by Seb Duggan on

So another season has drawn to a close, and we’re left crossing days off the calendar until cricket returns to Ridge Meadow...

As always, there will be an end-of-season clear-up session at the Ridge, this Sunday 24 September, starting at 10am.

There are a bunch of jobs to be done — putting away tables and chairs, tidying away the rope and advertising boards, covering the scoreboard — but the more volunteers we have, the less time it will take! So please come along on Sunday to lend a hand, and we should be done by about 11.30... (Bring a pair of work/gardening gloves if you have them).

Fantasy League: 1 week to go!

Posted by Seb Duggan on

With the league season drawing to a close — just the one 1st XI fixture to play — it’s still all to play for in the Fantasy League…

While Lecky looks like he may have an unassailable lead at the top of the table, the other prize places are still up for contention, with a handful of teams all contesting the top three.

A reminder also that if you haven’t yet used up all your 4 free transfers, this week might be a good time to adjust the balance of your team!

(There are still a few teams whose £5 entrance fee I haven't yet received, so expect me to be chasing those up…)

2017 Colts Presentation Evening

Posted by Seb Duggan on

This season’s Colts Presentation Evening will be held at Ridge Meadow on Friday 1st September, at 6pm.

As always, the bar will be open, and there will also be a barbecue.

Please could all colts members (and their families!) make every effort to attend. The evening should be finished by 8pm.

Fantasy League update: week 8

Posted by Seb Duggan on

Nearly half-way through the season, and the top of the table is currently a Le-Clercq 1-2-3. With the best-performing team of the week, Mark maintains his number 1 spot, while Lewis leapfrogs Spencer into 2nd place. Still a long way to go, though...

Top performance of the week was from Pete Grennan, with 67 runs and two catches, closely followed by Garin Chapman, who posted his club best of 4-21 with the ball. Third this week was Turns, with a typically miserly 2 wicket spell and 25 with the bat.
