Three Hambledon starlets are warming up for county trials

Under-10s Cameron Clarke, Joshua Wise and Henry Wood recently completed their pre-Christmas sessions with the district.

They now head for the Hampshire's Rose Bowl on Saturday (December 3) to battle it out with other hopefuls in a bid to represent the county.

Hambledon starlets called up to county squads

Cousins Jack Thistlethwayte and Harry Thistlethwayte have been selected for the Hampshire under-12 squad.

Meanwhile, six Hambledon youngsters have been selected for the South East Hants District under-12 winter development squad.

Seb Byers, Henry Glanfield, Harry Hoolahan, Freddie Martin, Louis Matovu and Tom Toogood have all received call-ups.

Under 13s smash Portsmouth

A superb batting display saw Hambledon's under-13s record a 130-run victory over Portsmouth in the South East Hants Indoor League.

The young Dons amassed 184 for the loss of three wickets in their 12 overs.

Seb Byers top scored with 31 not out, followed by Will Hardman with 22 and Finlay Rockett and Tom Toogood, who both retired on 20.

Portsmouth then collapsed to 54 all out as a result of six run outs.

The young Dons now go top of the league, but they will need to keep turning in performances of this quality to have a chance of the title.

Under 16s march on

Hambledon under-16s demolished Fareham & Crofton to maintain their unbeaten record in the South East Hants Indoor League at Fareham Leisure Centre.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the young Dons scored 139 for four with Eddie Lewis top scoring with 41.

He was supported by Rory Prentice (29 not out), JJ Brown (20) and Spencer Le-Clercq (19).

In reply, Fareham & Crofton collapsed to 53 all out off just eight overs, with Jack Dyer taking two for 15 and George Harding two for 16.

Hambledon's next match is against Purbrook on Sunday, December 4 (5-15pm).

They then face a double header in the Rose Bowl Indoor League on Sunday, December 11 - where they will face Alton (6pm) and Havant (8pm).

End of season ground work and tidy-up

The grounds team will have one more morning of work at the Ridge, including a general tidy-up, on Sunday, November 13 (9.30am).

The following work needs to be attempted...

  1. Cut the square if required
  2. Cut the outfield if required
  3. Finish cutting hedges
  4. Clear up hedge cuttings
  5. Plant new hedging
  6. Look at making changes in the store
  7. Fix Rabbit fencing

Hambledon B fall short in chase

Hambledon B fell 24 runs short of victory in their latest match at the Fareham Leisure Centre.

Playing league leaders Sarisbury Athletic, the Dons lost the toss and could only restrict their rivals to 154 for two.

The B team missed numerous run out oppurtunities as the first four Athletic batters all retired.

In reply the young Dons team slipped to 10 for two after losing JJ Brown for a duck and experienced captain Mark Le-Clercq (7).

They staged an excellent recovery to finish on 130 for five, with Dom Humphrey top scoring with 41 not out and Kyle Shinn 26, Spencer Le-Clercq 24 and Rory Prentice 13 offering good support.

Harry hits Heath for six

Hambledon under-13s won their second match of the season with a narrow victory over Locks Heath.

Batting first the young Dons finished on a modest 103 for three, but only after Harry Hooolihan (22 not out) hit two fours and two sixes in the last two overs.

Tom Toogood (20 not out) and Will Hardman (13) also made good contributions.

The bowling was not at its accurate best and a significant wide count allowed Locks Heath to keep up with run-rate.

They required 24 off the last two overs but a tight set from Toogood, including a wicket, and Finley Rockett, with a run out, left Heath 12 runs short.
