First big game of the season! Sunday 1 May at the Ridge

Posted by Seb Duggan on

Tomorrow sees the first big game of the season for the Dons: a home clash against Easton & Martyr Worthy in the 1st round of the National Village Knockout Cup.

The match starts at 1pm, but come along earlier from 10am to see the U7s and U9s - and to partake of the barbecue which will be running all day. The bar will be open too, or tea and coffee if you'd rather.

Let's get a really good turnout to support the Dons, and see them through into the second round!

On Saturday 23rd April Hambledon travelled away to Chichester Priory Park for the first pre-season fixture of the 2016 season. Will Bond's men were looking for a winning start to the summer, a mix of 1st and 2nd XI players were selected to face Chichester Priory's 1st XI at a rather scenic ground.

Pre-Season Update & New Customised Covers

Posted by Mark Le-Clercq on

The Ridge is now home to a set of three wonderful new covers this year, which are sporting the Hambledon colours and logo. The navy blue beauties arrived Wednesday morning to cries of delight from the Hambledon Chairman. Everyone is sure the new covers will be appreciated by the players and supporters. The club would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Trust and Waitrose for the grant from their “2016 Small Grants Scheme” that allowed us to purchase these new covers. They will make a huge difference to the quality of the ground at Ridge Meadow, and the enjoyment of cricket for everyone from colts to adults and all in between.

A weather struck April has prevented a pre-season of any sort so far, but weather permitting Hambledon can partake in this weekend's fixtures. Newly appointed 1st XI skipper Will Bond leads a mix of 1st and 2nd team players to Chichester Priory Park, this Saturday the 23rd of April. Hambledon are like many clubs just looking for some pre-season cricket in the rather moist April.

Sunday the 24th Hambledon play home to Winchester University, weather permitting of course; the groundsman have been putting in the hard yards despite the cricketing gods lacking mercy.

All change at the Ridge!

As we get to the start of the season (weather permitting) it may have escaped your notice that we have three new league captains this year.

Will Bond is taking over the reins of the 1st XI from Rob Atkins; Jack Lavous will be running the 2nd XI in place of Mark Le-Clercq; and Wayne Norman will be filling Martyn Shinn’s shoes at the helm of the 3rd XI.

I’m sure everyone will join with me in wishing them all good luck for the seaon ahead, and will try to make their jobs as easy as possible!
